Angels & Demons
In a Few Words...
"Angels & Demons" is inspired by the shared imagery of angels dwelling in the divine heavens, protecting humanity and life, contrasted with demons inhabiting the depths of the earth, imprisoning the damned souls of humans.
This is the second Killer Wink story, slightly more complex than the first but very easy to set up. It offers complex strategies involving positioning and movement, depending on the remaining players and the need to protect oneself while attempting to eliminate the opposing team. It also introduces negotiation and persuasion, where players convince teammates to eliminate a fellow player.
If you enjoyed "La Commedia della Morte," you can move on to this second, intermediate-level story, or try The Sombreval Manor for even more subtlety and precision.
Angels & Demons
In the year 1742, at the height of the Age of Enlightenment, between the Gates of Heaven and the flames of Hell, a divine eclipse casts its shadow over the celestial realm.
The angels, guardians of divine purity, prepare to face the demons, prisoners of eternal darkness, in an epic battle orchestrated by cosmic forces themselves.
Each player embodies a celestial being, bearing either the glow of ethereal light or the alluring shadow of darkness, within a magnificent castle suspended between Heaven and Hell, where baroque splendor decorates the surroundings.
However, duality does not only reside between light and shadow. Within each faction, a traitor emerges—a fallen angel among the angels, a repentant demon among the demons.
These beings, bearers of an ambiguous essence of gray and a desire for world balance, conceal their true nature while secretly pursuing their own goals.
The celestial beings know the identity of the traitor in the opposing faction, but they remain unaware of who among them has succumbed to the allure of the opposing light.
As the divine eclipse draws near, alliances form and break, plots are woven and revealed.
The angels manipulate the repentant demon to eliminate the demons, while the demons exploit the fallen angel to destroy the angels.
But the traitors, driven by a personal quest, seek to transcend duality and plunge the world into an eternal twilight.
Summary of the Rules...
Each player is assigned to a team—angels or demons.
Each team has a traitor, either a fallen angel or a repentant demon. The traitor's identity is unknown within their own team, but each team knows the traitor of the opposing team.
The angels must eliminate the demons with the help of the repentant demon hidden among them, while the demons aim to eliminate the angels with the aid of the fallen angel hidden among the angels.
Eliminations are carried out by a wink and a hand on the shoulder, at the right moment, in the right place, in the shadow of a hallway away from prying eyes, or discreetly in the living room amid the evening's excitement.
The angels and demons may also call "Judgment" to eliminate their own teammates in the hope of discovering and removing the traitor hidden among them.
The complete rules are detailed in the booklet accompanying the game.
