\u201cAngels & Demons\u201d is inspired by the shared imagination of angels dwelling in the divine sky, protecting humankind and life itself, opposed by demons lurking in the depths of the earth, imprisoning the damned souls of humans.<\/span><\/p>\n

This second edition of Killer Wink is more complex than the first, offering more strategy, as well as a negotiation and persuasion aspect aimed at convincing others to eliminate a traitor.\nIf you had fun with the first game, The Comedy Of Death, you\u2019ll enjoy an even deeper experience with this intermediate-level story, The Sombreval Manor, which brings even more stealth and precise gestures into play.<\/p>\n

The organizer plays like any other player. There is no \u201cgame master\u201d who runs the game without playing \u2014 the organizer is fully part of the game.<\/p>\n

You can play with 6 to 18 players, but the game experience is better with 8 to 10 players or more.<\/p>\n

The recommended age is 16 and up. The game can still be played with younger players, although it may be harder for them to avoid rushing and to stay discreet during the game.<\/p>\n

Game length varies from 30 minutes up to 2 hours when players are skilled and patient.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Create the Ambiance<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

To set the atmosphere, create a celestial ambiance. Ask participants to dress as angels (in white and blue) or demons (in red and black) before your gathering. If addressing couples, encourage one to dress as an angel and the other as a demon, based on their preference.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Prepare the Game<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

You will form two teams, angels versus demons. Each team will secretly include a traitor: a fallen angel on the angels' side and a repentant demon on the demons' side. You need at least 6 players to keep the traitors' identities secret. The game accommodates up to 18 players.<\/p>\n

Initially, gather around a table to distribute the cards. Once the teams are formed, the game will unfold during your party: during appetizers, on the patio, in the kitchen, or while dining. Killer Wink isn\u2019t played at the table but rather as a background activity during your event.<\/p>\n

Take one \"Fallen Angel\" card and one \"Repentant Demon\" card. Add enough \"Angel\" and \"Demon\" cards so that there is one card per player, balancing the number of angels and demons. With 15 or more players, you can play with two traitors per team, using two \"Fallen Angel\" and two \"Repentant Demon\" cards.<\/p>\n

You can define the teams before starting the game. For example, men versus women, those dressed as angels versus those dressed as demons, or select teams based on personal preferences. In this case, separate the cards into two decks\u2014one for angels and one for demons. Shuffle each deck, then distribute the cards to the players in each team.<\/p>\n

If you prefer random team assignments, shuffle all the cards into one deck and distribute them randomly.<\/p>\n

If possible, it's best to define a visual clothing detail (like rolled-up sleeves, a scarf, a specific color, a pen, makeup, etc.) to help distinguish the angels from the demons during the game.\nIf not, simply memorizing your teammates works just as well.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

\u00ab <\/span>In the year 1742, at the height of the Age of Enlightenment, in a magnificent castle suspended between the gates of Heaven and the fires of Hell, an eclipse casts its shadow over the celestial realm.<\/p>\n

An extraordinary meeting between the divine and infernal spheres is called. Two teams are about to engage in a perilous game orchestrated by cosmic forces themselves. The angels, guardians of divine purity, prepare for an epic battle against the demons, prisoners of eternal darkness. Each player embodies a celestial being, bearing either the ethereal light of Heaven or the alluring shadow of Hell.<\/p>\n

However, the conflict doesn\u2019t just lie between the two teams. Within each side, a traitor is hiding: a fallen angel among the angels, and a repentant demon among the demons.\nThese ambiguous figures keep their true nature secret while secretly working toward their own goals.<\/p>\n

The celestial beings know the identity of the traitor on the opposing team but are unaware of who among them has fallen to the allure of the opposing light.<\/p>\n

The traitors, working in secret, aim to upset the apparent duality and sow chaos.<\/p>\n

As the divine eclipse draws near, alliances form and break, plots are woven and revealed.<\/p>\n

The angels manipulate the repentant demon to eliminate the demons, while the demons exploit the fallen angel to destroy the angels.<\/p>\n

But the traitors, driven by a personal quest, seek to transcend duality and plunge the world into an eternal twilight. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Create the Mystery<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Each player looks at their card without showing it to anyone else. Players discover if they are an angel, demon, fallen angel, or repentant demon.<\/p>\n

All players on the angels' team, including fallen angels, close their eyes and cover their faces with their hands. Cheating is prohibited, as it would ruin the game.<\/p>\n

The demons, including the repentant demon, reveal the cards of the players who have their eyes closed (the angels). They discover who the traitor is on the opposing team: the fallen angel among the angels.<\/p>\n

If the teams were not predetermined, the demons also learn who their teammates are (those with open eyes).<\/p>\n

The demons then return the angels' cards face down and allow the angels to open their eyes.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Next, all the demons, including the repentant demon, close their eyes to avoid seeing the cards.<\/p>\n

The angels, including the fallen angel, reveal the cards of the players who have their eyes closed (the demons). They identify the opposing team's traitor: the repentant demon among the demons.<\/p>\n

Similarly, if the teams were not predetermined, the angels also learn who their teammates are.<\/p>\n

To eliminate a demon, the angels must collaborate with the repentant demon from the opposing team. Subtly and discreetly during the evening, the angel positions themselves behind a demon, placing a hand on their shoulder. Simultaneously, the repentant demon, standing in front of the demon, whispers, \"I am the repentant demon\u2026\" and winks at them.\nThe demon then realizes they have been trapped\u2014cornered by the angel behind them and the traitor they failed to uncover in front of them.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The demon is eliminated and can no longer speak about the game or share any information with the remaining players.<\/p>\n

Angels are eliminated in the same manner. A demon sneaks behind an angel, places a hand on their shoulder, while the fallen angel stands in front of the angel, saying with a wink, \"I am the fallen angel\u2026\". Once eliminated, the angel must remain silent about the game and not reveal anything to the other players.<\/p>\n

Be careful\u2014when someone places a hand on your shoulder, you must not close your eyes or avoid looking at the player in front of you. Be a good sport and accept being eliminated when it happens. If you are eliminated, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before informing the other players. Avoid revealing too quickly to everyone that you\u2019ve been eliminated.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Traitors are eliminated by unanimous vote within their team. If a demon believes they know who the repentant demon is, they must announce loudly for everyone, \"Judgment,\" and call for a vote among the demons to unanimously eliminate one of their own. The suspected repentant demon does not vote. If all other players agree to the elimination, the demon is removed from the game. They must then reveal whether they were indeed the repentant demon or a true demon. Regardless of their role, they are eliminated and can no longer participate or discuss the game with the remaining players.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The same rule applies to the angels, who may vote to eliminate an angel from their team, hoping to identify and remove the fallen angel. To eliminate a player, there must be at least three team members, with a minimum of 2 votes against 1. If only two players remain on a team, the traitor automatically wins over the last remaining teammate.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Be cautious when eliminating a player through the hand-on-shoulder and wink method. If another member of the targeted player\u2019s team witnesses this action, they will know you are the traitor and can convince their teammates to eliminate you!<\/p>\n

If you are a traitor, you cannot be eliminated via the hand-and-wink method; you can only be removed by a vote from your team.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

End of the Game<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

If both the fallen angel and the repentant demon are eliminated by their respective teams, the game ends. The winning team is the one that still has true angels or demons in play. If both teams retain members, the game ends in a draw, as neither could establish the supremacy of angels or demons.<\/p>\n

If all the true angels or true demons from one team are eliminated, that team loses. However, the traitors can still win. The remaining team must then vote to eliminate its own members until the traitor is removed. If the traitor is the last player standing, both traitors win the game. Otherwise, the remaining team claims victory.<\/p>\n

If a fallen angel or repentant demon is eliminated, the allied team of that traitor can no longer win because they cannot eliminate further players. However, they can still force a draw by identifying and eliminating their own traitor. Be cautious not to vote too hastily; it may be wise to let the opposing team act further to better identify the traitor.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Everything is ready. Don\u2019t forget who you are and what you must do. Be Observant. Move frequently between rooms and always be aware of those behind you. Keep a close eye on your teammates to identify the traitor among you.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a traitor, don\u2019t hesitate to lie to your fake teammates \u2014 you must not reveal who you really are. Don\u2019t rush things. Only act when you\u2019re sure you won\u2019t be caught, even if your teammates are pushing you to act. And don\u2019t tell them who their traitor is \u2014 if they find out, they\u2019ll eliminate them, and you won\u2019t be able to achieve your true goal: the traitors\u2019 victory, and with it\u2026 the balance between Heaven and Hell.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
